If there is one thing Vermont has a lot of, it's beaver ponds. I remember when beavers were scarce. If they invaded your property you had to trap and move them to another location. Not so much anymore.
My favorite beaver story is in the book "Centennial," by James Mitchener. The beavers in this book are the characters in one chapter and Mitchner tells a great story about their lives, then ties it into a murder later on. I just loved it!
